Meet Ms. Suchy
Welcome to 1st grade at Kerkstra Elementary School! My name is Lauren Suchy, and I will be your child’s 1st-grade teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. I am THRILLED to be your child’s teacher! It is going to be a fun year filled with a lot of learning and many new adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I want to know ALL about you and your child but first let me share a few things about myself.
I was born and raised in Naperville, IL where my parents still reside. I am the youngest of four siblings. I have two older brothers and one older sister. I am also the proud aunt of seven young nephews and nieces! I LOVE them all!
Upon my high school graduation, I moved to Indianapolis, IN to attend Butler University- GO DAWGS! I majored in Elementary Education and minored in Psychology and Special Education. Right after graduation, I couldn’t wait to start teaching and immediately was hired at a public school in Indianapolis where I taught 3rd grade for two years before moving back home to Illinois to be closer to my family. Since moving back to Illinois, I have taught 1st grade and this year will be my 7th year teaching 1st. I have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in ESL at Olivet Nazarene University. This will be my 9th year of teaching overall, and I couldn’t be more excited!
I look forward to working with you as parents/guardians as well; I want to keep our line of communication flowing! If you ever have a question, concern, etc. feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will do my best to respond as soon as possible. Thank you!
I look forward to a wonderful year!!
Best,
Ms. Suchy
